THE SOCIAL MEDIA MACROSCOPE (SMM) PROJECT

The Social Media Macroscope is an open-source data science analytics platform for social research. I started this project during my Ph.D. studies when I found so many people were unable to conduct their social science research due to a lack of training in data science. It was also a concern for me that people did not realize how much you could know about people via their social data. Thus, this project was started to help progress social research and build technologies that could help us advance society while also understanding how to secure privacy. More information about the beginnings of this project can be found at this Medium blog post.

A RUNNING INSTANCE OF THE SMM

A running cloud instance of the SMM can be found at www.socialmediamacroscope.org. This cloud instance is built on top of HUBzero technologies, but each of the social media analytics tools are containerized.
